Sneak Peek Saturdays: Exploring the RomantiSea Serenade Series
When I first started writing what would become the RomantiSea Serenades series, I had no idea it would grow into something much larger than one story. Like many writers, I began with a single idea: a budding romance between two characters. But as I wrote, I realized their story couldn’t be contained in just one novel. They both had journeys that deserved to be told, and I found myself drafting companion novels to explore both sides of their relationship.
Then, as I spent more time developing the setting—an enchanting luxury cruise called the Elysian Serenade—I began imagining new romances that could also bloom onboard. There was something about the ship itself, gliding across the endless sea, that felt alive with possibility. Soon, other characters and love stories began to take shape in my mind. That’s how the RomantiSea Serenades series was born: a collection of love stories, all bound by the transformative magic of the open sea.
What Brings the Series Together?
At its heart, this series is about more than just romance. Each story shares a connection to the Elysian Serenade, the luxury ship where every love story begins. The Elysian Serenade is home to the “Mingle at Sea” voyages—a single-sailor retreat designed to help travelers break away from their everyday lives, find connection, and maybe even love.
Beyond the shared setting, there’s also a common emotional thread: the sea itself. Each story explores how travel—and the open ocean in particular—can be a healing, even spiritual experience. The sea offers my characters a chance to break away from the pressures and routines of home, giving them the space to reevaluate their personal goals, rediscover themselves, and redefine what they truly want in life.
Tone and Themes of the Series
When readers step aboard the Elysian Serenade, I want them to feel uplifted and inspired. The tone of the series is fun and lighthearted, but it’s also deeply rooted in the idea of transformation. Every story in the RomantiSea Serenades series is about personal growth and self-discovery, because I believe that in order to truly love someone else, we must first learn to love and accept ourselves.
Romance is, of course, at the heart of these stories. The series will explore a variety of love stories and romantic dynamics—each as unique as the characters themselves. Some pairings will follow familiar romance arcs, like opposites attract or second chances at love, while others might dive deeper into themes of self-love, friendship, or the rekindling of family connections.
Why the Sea?
For me, the sea has always been a place of transformation. There’s something about being out on the water, surrounded by endless waves, that invites reflection and change. On the Elysian Serenade, my characters have a chance to disconnect from the noise of their everyday lives and explore their own personal desires, free from the weight of home and societal expectations.
The romances in this series are unique because they all begin in the confines of a vacation—a bubble where characters can let their hair down in ways they might not at home. It’s in this in-between space, detached from the familiar, that they’re able to explore who they are and what they want, not just in love but in life.
The Role of the Elysian Serenade
The Elysian Serenade isn’t just a backdrop for these stories; it’s almost a character in its own right. For some, the ship represents freedom. For others, it’s a chance to escape. And for all, it offers an opportunity for reinvention.
Each voyage aboard the Elysian Serenade brings its own challenges and transformations, not just for the characters but for the readers, too. Whether it’s a quiet moment of reflection on a starlit deck or a spontaneous adventure onshore, the ship provides the perfect setting for characters to grow, connect, and ultimately discover what they’re searching for.
Looking Ahead
While the series begins with Emerald Tide and Sapphire Seas, this is just the start of the journey. I envision the RomantiSea Serenades series evolving to explore even more complex relationship dynamics in future installments. Each pair of companion novels will focus on a new set of characters, but the common threads—romance, self-discovery, and the healing magic of the sea—will remain.
What I Hope Readers Will Feel
When readers step into the world of the RomantiSea Serenades, I want them to feel a little bit of everything:
The joy of falling in love with the characters.
The escapism and beauty of dreaming about life at sea.
And most of all, the inspiration to find parallels to their own lives—whether that’s rediscovering their dreams, reconnecting with themselves, or simply embracing the idea that it’s never too late to chart a new course.
